Vyron Hollandsworth "Holly" (1945* - 2006)

Vyron "Holly" Hollandsworth 79 yrs old, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2006 in Merced, CA . Holly was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In 1945 he joined the US Navy and was honorable discharged in 1948. He was an apprentice at Pierce Brothers Funeral Home while attending California College of Mortuary Science where he graduated in 1951.

Holly married Patricia Berg in 1952. He worked for Whitehurst Loyd Funeral Service in Porterville, Ca as a funeral director and embalmer for 31 years. He moved to Merced to work for Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in 1987. He became an ombudsman for Merced County in 1990.

Holly was a member of the Lions Club International and Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He was also a trustee for the Odd Fellows Home in Saratoga, CA. He enjoyed model railroading and traveling by train. Holly is survived by his wife of 54 years Patricia; his daughters Linda Young of Porterville, Jeri Hollandsworth of Gull Breeze, Florida, and Susan Arguelles of Merced, his sons-in-law Victor Young and Jesse Arguelles and his only grandchild Jesse J. Arguelles. He is also survived by 4 nieces and 1 nephew.

Holly was prececed in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 3 brothers, 3 nephews and 1 niece.

Graveside services will be held at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine, CA on January 8, 2007 at 1:30 pm

Ivers and Alcorn Funeral Home in Merced is in charge of the arrangements.
