Raymond Hylton “Ray” Hollingsworth, 78, of 394 Fisher Drive, Martinsville, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at his home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1930, in Ellenville, N.Y., to Luby G. and Eula Johnson Hollingsworth. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ann H. Fitzgerald; and two brothers, Gordon C. Hollingsworth and Luby G. Hollingsworth Jr.

Professional dancer and dance studio owner

Hollingsworth owned Ray Hollingsworth Studio of Dance in Martinsville for more than 50 years and was owner of Dance Troupe Inc., a national dance seminar and competition company. He was a professional dancer, choreographer and dance educator.

He attended Duke University on a track scholarship and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martinsville.

Surviving are his wife, Cynthia W. “Cindy” Hollingsworth of the home; a son, Steven B. Hollingsworth of Tucson, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville and other times at the home.
