Bearnice Hollingsworth Mathis
Bearnice Hollingsworth Mathis ROUND ROCK, Texas - Bearnice Hollingsworth Mathis, 92, born June 14, 1924, in Porterdale, Georgia, died of respiratory failure and pneumonia on September 27, 2016, at her assisted living in Round Rock, Texas. She lived with her parents, Ella Mae Harrison and William Madison Hollingsworth, until her marriage to William Howard Mathis on December 16, 1945. As a military wife she traveled the world and honed her already strongly independent and resilient character. Bearnice dealt with the tragedies that life sent her the loss of her only son Brian to a drunken driver and the death of her husband from ALS- with grace and courage. Bearnice understood how to be happy and lived by the motto that "Life is what you make it." Bearnice will be deeply mourned by friends and family: She was easy to love. In addition to her husband, son and parents, she was predeceased by brother, WM Hollingsworth; sisters, Annette Hollings worth and Nan Franklin, and nephew, Robert Franklin. She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Lajzer and husband, Sidney; grandson, John Brian Lajzer and wife, Lauren; great-grandson, Caleb, and great-granddaughter, Haley Lajzer; sisters, Jean Hollingsworth, and Helen Adams and husband, Ellis Adam. She leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Bearnice will be laid to rest with her husband, Bill, and her son, Brian, in Marietta National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on November 4, 2016. God, like every good parent, is glad to have her home again. Beck Funeral home in Round Rock, Texas, is in charge of the arrangements. Bearnice has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations are given in her memory to the charity of your choice .
