Richard “Mike” Hollingsworth, 68, passed away peacefully at his home in Summitville on Friday, December 1, 2017, after a brief illness.
He was born on May 21, 1949, in Anderson to Omer and Irene (Bloom) Hollingsworth and has lived in the Summitville area all of his lifetime. Mike graduated from Summitville High School-Class of 1967. He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired from Guide-Lamp, formerly of Anderson in 1999 after 31 years.
He is survived by 3 sisters: Carol (Denzil) Elsworth-Summitville, Joyce Butcher of Fairmount, Loretta (Keith) Dow-Alexandria, 2 Brothers-Leon (Marjorie) Hollingsworth-Anderson, Dennis (Grace) Hollingsworth-Fairmount, several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings-Beverly McCleery, Dorothy Groom, Rosella Glass, Margaret Figel, Shirley Cole, Betty Hall, Ruth Hummer and Helen Hollingsworth.
Services honoring Mike’s life and legacy will take place at 1 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2017 in Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 West Walnut Street, Summitville. Kara Tharp will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11 am prior to the services.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Summitville Fire Department through the funeral home.
