Hollingsworth Ancestry Header Images, honoring famous Hollingsworths from across the globe, both past and present:
This image is a photo of a 1674 document bearing the signature of Valentine Hollingsworth, the ancestor of a large majority of Hollingsworths in North America. It was discovered within the collection of the Public Records of Northern Ireland (PRONI) by John Hollingsworth during a 2005 trip to Northern Ireland. The seal next to Valentine's signature bears a striking resemblance to the Hollingsworth Durham Crest, but John was never able to discover any official documentation on it. Speculation is that it may have been an unregistered "coa", seals used but not registered to avoid paying the associated fee. We are grateful to John for his permission to use the image in our header.
The second image is of Austrailian Peter John Hollingworth, who served as the Anglican Bishop of Brisbane from 1989 to 2001. Engaged in social work for several decades, he was honored in 1991 as the Austrailian of the Year. He served as the 23rd Governor-General of Austrailia, the representative of Queen Elizabeth to the Austailian Government, from 2001 until 2003.
The next image is of Candian Ben Hollingsworth, an actor who has appeared in a number of TV shows and movies. His most recent roles were on the CW series Cult and Beautiful Life, along with movies "The Jonses" and "A Flesh Offerring". He has also appeared in numerous stage productions.
The next image to the right (4) is a shot of Melissa Hollingsworth, a gifted Canadian athlete, who won a bronze medal in the 2006 Olympic games in the sport of skeleton, a high speed, head first sled event held on an ice track (often called toboggoning). Melissa also won the World Cup event in 2006 and 2009 and has numerous other skeleton titles. Melissa is a descendent of Darcy of Lee of Stanley of Robert. Robert Lee Hollingsworth was born in 1869 in California, and moved by stages to Montana and then on to Canada. More information on Melissa Hollingsworth's carrer and current activities can be found at her web site at www.melissahollingsworth.com .
Image five is of American Marc Hollingsworth, the currently serving Episcopal Bishop of Ohio. Marc was consecrated at the 11th Episcopal Bishop of Ohio in 2003.
- The final image is of American Ellery Hollingsworth, a rising member of the next wave of snowboarding champions. Ellery has been competing at the the pro leel since 2009 and has placed near the top in several major snowboarding events, both national and international, since then. She is competing well in 2013 and has a solid shot at the 2014 American Olympic Team.
Over the coming months it is our intent to modify the web site header so that we can highlight many other Hollingsworths who are making key contributions to their fields from the arts, sports, politics, education, law, and numerous other professions.
